Welcome to the WWUMC website!

In 1894 a series of meetings took place known as the "Orchard Meetings." The Rev. S. W. Davis, then Pastor of the Jefferson Ave. Methodist Episcopal Church was in charge of these services. Without a building, the meetings were held in a tent in the vicinity of the current church building and they led directly to the organization of the West Washington Methodist Episcopal Church. The small plain wooden structure that
was their first place of worship had to be remodeled and additions built on twice. With each addition though, soon the building was again found to be inadequate to the needs of the Congregation.

After the Church was organized there were eight ministers assigned including Rev. 0. D. Cook, who was transferred to Perryopolis, Pa., and in 1925 Rev. J. H. Debolt, was assigned to the Church. He was appointed as chairman of the building committee and in 1926 the erection of the new Church began. The current church building is the result of the efforts of this building committee. It can be noted, that during his 32 year ministry at West Washington, Rev. Debolt along with his fruitful ministry to the community, built both a fellowship hall and a new parsonage.

The history of this Church shows much good work done in the Missionary fields and a list of loyal missionaries. In addition, several have entered the ordained ministry from the congregation of West Washington.
